Description
M33 is the second closest spiral galaxy to our Milky Way after the much larger Andromeda Galaxy M31 - lying just under 3 million light years from Earth in the constellation of Triangulum. M33 is half the size of our galaxy and only 5-10% the mass, but it is a very active galaxy with large pinkish-red HII regions and myriad hot blue stars defining its several spiral arms.
