great work you're doing here! you're an amateur astronomer or a pro?

I'm definitely an amateur. Professional astronomy is more experiments and number crunching to explain interstellar phenomena. Amateur astronomy lets me take pretty pictures of whatever I want. I pursue astrophotography from an artistic direction primarily, but I feel that understanding the science can add to the appreciation of the subjects I am imaging.

yes, that's true. if you know what's happening in that galaxy or on a specific star, you know better what to capture and stuff. anyway, you take great photos! I love your work.

Thanks! I'm pretty much in awe anytime I'm under a starry sky, and I'm glad I'm able to share that feeling with others.

240 minutes? Wow! That's awesome. Especially to keep it that clear.

Yeah, and I actually shot it on two different nights with different telescopes - one at 800mm and one at 1400mm. Getting all of the data to merge together correctly was a real pain, but it worked out well in the end.
