NGC7000 North American Nebula

The North American Nebula in the constellation of Cygnus the Swan is one of the largest nearby emission nebulae. The distinctly shaped cloud of hydrogen gas lies 1600 light years away in our own spiral arm of the Milky Way. New stars are forming inside this nebula, and the hottest, most massive ones are ionizing the gas around them and causing the nebula to glow strongly red.
