M33, also known as the Triangulum Galaxy, is one of our nearest neighbors at around 2.6 million light years - just a bit farther from the Milky Way than Andromeda. M33 is half the size of the Milky Way at 50,000 ly across and only about 10% as massive, but it is an incredibly active galaxy with numerous hydrogen emission nebula visible along the spiral arms as well as thousands of young, hot, blue stars.
